As a school-based SLP, my summers off are sacred. But, if there is one thing that makes me wish I could provide summer therapy, it's the fun summer themes. ALL the heart eyes for high-interest topics like ice cream, the beach, and the 4th of July!
With Independence Day approaching, there are a ton of amazing and engaging activities right here on the world wide web to use with your teletherapy or in-person students. Check out these resources that are sure to 'spark' your interest across your caseload.
4th of July Boom™ Card Activities
Create your own fireworks show while practicing speech! This 4th of July Boom Card activity is a simple way to target articulation with slightly older students. Students click and drag the bright fireworks into the nighttime sky to reveal a new target word on each one.
4th of July PDF Activities for Speech Therapy
I love any activity that targets multiple goals, and this 4th of July interactive PDF does just that. It has clickable navigation, buttons, and fillable text boxes and targets associations, negation, inferences, synonyms, figurative language, and articulation. The relevant vocabulary included makes this download-and-go resource invaluable for summertime speech therapy.
4th of July Speech Therapy Game
Speaking of hitting multiple goals with one resource, check out these 4th of July digital board games. I have had so much fun learning how to use Google Slides™ this year, and this series of holiday-themed speech therapy games was one of the first that I wanted to convert to this (new-to-me) format last summer!
As with all of the resources included in the bundle, SLPs can use specific games to target specific goals. The Google Slides versions have moveable game pawns built-in, so all you need is a free dice or spinner website and you're set! A printable version is also included. Homework? Consider it DONE.
